It's testament to the dedicated leadership team and staff at Paradise Resort that they've been voted Australia's Best Family Resort 12 years in a row. A 4.1 Google Rating from 3,350 reviews confirms the staff's commitment to delivering on the Hotel's mission of delivering a holiday experience for parents and children where everyone leaves with unforgettable memories, .

However this success doesn't come without looking for ways to improve how everyone does things, and ensuring all 300+ employees, the hotel's No1 asset, are safely supported to grow.

To uncover their success we asked Danielle Collett, Human Resources Manager - Paradise Resort, about the importance of each employees mental wellbeing, and the team's collective functioning.

Managing the psychological safety of our staff has always been a top priority for our management team at Paradise Resort. Each individual employee has their own unique needs and challenges to overcome whether that is related to work or their personal life.

Our staff are at the core of everything we achieve here at the resort. Having the right resources and support in place for our team is key in ensuring that we are safeguarding their psychological safety and in turn, achieving the overall goals of the business.

Working with Get Mentally Fit and offering our staff their Employee Assistance Program has given me the opportunity to be more pro-active in addressing various psychological hazards and demands.

Implementing an Employee Assistance Program with Get Mentally Fit assists us in creating an employment experience where staff feel supported to achieve their goals and equipped with the best support when challenges invariably arise.

Every day we strive to make certain that we are a preferred place of employment, and the ultimate Gold Coast and Australia-wide holiday destination.

Full throttle fun in Paradise…

Considering the high energy and sometimes stressful environment of a busy family centred hotel like Paradise Resort, a unique set of psychosocial hazards need managing to keep employees safe. Paradise Resort understand the importance of intervention control measures and appropriate leadership capability building to minimise psychosocial risks and optimise team functioning.

Get Mentally Fit's control measures in action:

Keeping fuel in everyone's tank

In hotels like Paradise Resort, the main psychosocial hazards are associated with high job demands, shift work, job insecurity, and unavoidable conflict or poor workplace relationships and interactions.

Protecting employees from these hazards is crucial for their well-being and performance, job satisfaction, retention, and the organisation's reputation as a workplace of choice. Remembering that the model WHS Regulations require anyone conducting a business, or undertaking, to have regard to all relevant matters when determining what control measures to implement.

Getting this right boosts team functioning, productivity, enhances customer service and experience, while ensuring legal WHS compliance. Prioritising employee protection from psychosocial hazard management not only benefits individuals but also strengthens organisational culture and competitiveness.

Having the right resources and support in place for our team is key in ensuring that we are safeguarding their psychological safety and in turn, achieving the overall goals of the business.

Partner with Get Mentally Fit, by offering an Employee Assistance Program service to employees, Paradise Resort have the ideal early control measure in place. This means Danielle (Human Resources Manager - Paradise Resort) can confidently direct a valued employee to expert support when required rather than having to deal with complex issues that she isn't qualified to resolve.

“The team’s feedback regarding the EAP has been outstanding and has also encouraged more open communication around the importance of mental health in the workplace. I believe this has assisted in boosting our overall culture at the resort and helping our team to perform at their best."
